The primary focus of the Mechoopda Youth Program is to provide intervention for court-involved youth, and reduce, control, and prevent crime and delinquency, both by and against tribal youth. Another component is to raise the academic achievement and high school graduation rates of tribal youth. Goals include offering incentive programs for near-perfect attendance and grade improvement, providing for supportive services and special events, and holding prevention activities focused on changing attitudes surrounding drugs and alcohol.
Funding sources for the Tribal Youth Program include those from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention grant, Northern Valley Indian Health Services, the Chico Rancheria Housing Corporation, and Tribal discretionary funds.
