Mechoopda Maidu Indians


Mechoopda Education Department

It is the policy of the Mechoopda Tribal Council and the Education Committee to encourage all tribal members to seek education and training beyond high school.

The Mechoopda Education Department provides services in the areas of financial assistance for tutoring, educational support costs, higher education grants, scholarships, adult education assistance, special awards, vocation training grants, and employment supportive services.

Funding for these programs is provided by contract with the Bureau of Indian Affairs as authorized by the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (P.L. 93-638) and Tribal discretionary funds.
